14 May 2008 - The Association's has serious reservations about the wisdom of the proposed DoH changes and has offered the following response:
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to you as Secretary of the Association of Laser Safety Professionals (ALSP). Formed in June 2005, ALSP is a professional society of laser safety experts actively engaged in providing advice, support and training in laser and intense light safety. For further detail concerning the Association please refer to our web site:
http://www.laserprotectionadviser.com/
As an organisation representing some of the most experienced and well-respected Laser Protection Advisers in the UK, ALSP wishes to make known to you our grave concerns in respect of the proposals for the ‘partial deregulation of lasers and intense pulsed light sources’, as presented in sections 3.10 to 3.13 of the consultation document. We give our formal comments in the attached letter, as responses to the consultation questions Q3.3 and Q3.4. We would be grateful if you could kindly acknowledge safe receipt of this letter, which I will also send you in hard copy form, by registered post.
Best Regards,
Secretary, ALSP
